Health/Medication
Medical Procedures
If a student has a specific health or medical condition/injury, an Individual First Aid Plan or Non Specific Health Care Plan needs to be completed and signed by the student’s medical practitioner and presented to our front office for the school’s records. If the student is prescribed with ANY medication, including Ventolin, a Medication Agreement will also need to be completed by the student’s medical practitioner or a pharmacist (for over the counter medication) and authorised by the parent or legal guardian.
All medical plans/agreements will be reviewed every 12 months. If the student’s circumstances change during this period, the parent/carer is responsible to inform the front office. Medication will only be administered when all medical forms have been completed and signed.
First Aid
When first aid is provided a text message will be sent to inform the parent/carer of the incident. If further medical and/or hospital attention is sought after school hours from this incident we ask the parent/carer to inform the front office ASAP.
In the event that a student receives any form of trauma to the head, the parent/carer will be contacted both by message and verbal communication to be informed of the incident and may be asked to collect the student if necessary.
An ambulance will be called in accordance with first aid guidelines and for all emergencies.
Camps/Excursions
Medication cannot be administered in an education or care service without a medication agreement HSP151 that has been completed by a treating health professional or pharmacist (for over the counter medication) and authorised by the parent or legal guardian.
If the student has an individual First Aid Plan or Non Specific Health Care Plan please ensure this is up to date and includes any additional requirement for medication for out of school hours.
Emergency Contact/s
It is vital that all parent/carer contact details are kept up-to-date. Please advise the front office staff of any changes or additional emergency contacts ASAP.
